EXETER NEWS | ORIGINAL LOCAL NEWS · OCTOBER 2026
A Tulare County environmental notice filed in August 2026 identifies roadway maintenance along two corridors serving the Exeter area. The work is part of the county’s 2026 Road Repair and Accountability Act Project 1, which also covers other locations in Tulare County.
What the official documents say
The county lists Avenue 256 between Road 204 and Road 216 as one project location, and Road 180 between Avenue 264 and Avenue 280 as another near Exeter. Other county road segments in the program include Lindsay, Porterville, Delano and Earlimart areas. The state filing describes repair, maintenance and resurfacing of existing roadways rather than building new major roads.
Why residents should follow it
Rural roadway condition can affect agriculture, school travel, services and everyday vehicles. The CEQA exemption applies to maintenance with negligible or no expansion of existing use. It does not provide an exact resurfacing start date for every Exeter segment or demonstrate that both segments have already been completed.
Next steps for the community
Exeter News will follow county maintenance schedules, any lane controls, final locations and pavement acceptance reports. Drivers should rely on current road notices and posted traffic controls rather than the August environmental filing for live conditions.
